1) Who is it for?
New HAAICOR model defines responsibilities between humans and Artificial Intelligence in Enterprise AI workflows.
As autonomous Enterprise AI applications become increasingly prevalent, Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) is taking on an entirely new significance. While HITL has traditionally been viewed primarily as a control mechanism, BlueCallom has expanded the approach: Human-in-the-Loop 2.0.
At its core is not the permanent supervision of Artificial Intelligence, but an intelligent collaboration between humans and AI within complex enterprise workflows. The objective is to place human judgment and responsibility precisely where they create the greatest value.
BlueCallom has developed a framework that systematically defines the use of Human-in-the-Loop within Enterprise AI workflows. The HAAICOR (Human and Artificial Intelligence Control Rules) define roles, responsibilities, and behavioral rules for autonomous AI agents, AI managers, and users operating within modern Enterprise AI environments.
Human Interaction Points Instead of Permanent Control
A central element of the concept is the Human Interaction Point (HIP). At these individually configurable points within a workflow, the responsible Workflow Manager determines whether an employee needs to review, assess, or approve the outcome of a particular process step.
This prevents Enterprise AI applications from being unnecessarily slowed down and avoids burdening employees with constant supervision. At the same time, humans remain involved precisely where experience, responsibility, business impact, or risk require human judgment.
The decision to activate or deactivate a HIP lies with the Workflow Manager. Once a Human Interaction Point is reached, responsibility for the respective decision shifts to the designated employee.
Responsibility Instead of Blind Trust
Enterprise AI does not simply execute deterministic software instructions. It continuously evaluates new information and can dynamically adapt its actions to changing circumstances.
To enable humans to make informed decisions, the AI does not merely provide a recommendation. It also explains the reasoning behind it. Employees receive the relevant rationale, alternatives, and key factors that influenced the recommendation. This creates transparency rather than black-box behavior.
Based on this information and their own experience, employees can accept the recommendation, modify the proposed course of action, or escalate the decision to a higher level of responsibility.
Employees Become Managers of Their AI
Human-in-the-Loop 2.0 also changes the role of employees.
Instead of executing every individual process step themselves, employees increasingly manage and assess the outcomes of their workflow segments. They assume responsibility for decisions and thereby become managers of the AI operating within their area of responsibility.
Because Enterprise AI can perform many operational tasks within seconds or minutes, employees can complete workflow segments significantly faster while concentrating their time and expertise on the decisions that matter.
This is where BlueCallom sees the true productivity potential of Enterprise AI: not in individual AI agents, but in intelligently orchestrated enterprise workflows in which humans and AI contribute what each does best.
2) What is Enterprise AI
Humans Remain Essential
BlueCallom expects Human-in-the-Loop to become an integral component of professional Enterprise AI applications.
As Artificial Intelligence becomes increasingly capable and autonomous, human responsibility becomes more important, not less. AI may analyze, assess, and act at unprecedented speed, but humans remain responsible for defining objectives, assessing consequences, balancing risks, and making critical business decisions.
The HAAICOR model provides a framework for companies to deploy increasingly autonomous Enterprise AI in a transparent, responsible, and productive way – not through more control, but through clearly defined collaboration between Human and Artificial Intelligence.
Human and AI Collaboration
Three Pillars of Human Centered AI
Human and AI Collaboration
- In short, HAAI Collaboration
- Where Human Intelligence and AI build a symbiosis
- The sum of Human and Artificial Intelligence
- The strongest level of Intelligence
Human in the Loop
- Human in the loop for any critical step.
- Reviews, sensitive decision-making, and Oversight.
- Human-centered AI.
- AI works for humans, not the other way around.
Human Intelligence Augmentation
- The term was coined by Douglas Engelbart in 1952.
- AI will augment humans’ brain capacity and capability.
- Like machines augment human muscle power.
