BlueCallom Builds Sovereign AI Stack with Apertus 1.5

Swiss businesses can now operate Enterprise AI on a sovereign Swiss technology stack

Zurich, October 2026 – BlueCallom·AI is expanding its Enterprise AI platform with support for Apertus 1.5, the Swiss large language model developed by ETH Zurich, EPFL and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS). Combined with Swiss-based infrastructure, the integration enables BlueCallom to offer a sovereign Enterprise AI stack—from infrastructure and foundation model to enterprise application.

Apertus 1.5 is a fully open large language model developed within the Swiss AI Initiative and trained on the Alps supercomputer at CSCS in Lugano. The model is released under the Apache 2.0 license and provides transparency into its development, model architecture and training process.

Axel Schultze, BlueCallom CEO: “For BlueCallom, the significance goes beyond adding another supported LLM. It makes AI sovereignty an architectural choice, at the AI-unit level. This is a great opportunity for Switzerland and its IT sovereignty.”

The latest BlueCallom platform, AgenticBlue 2.5, introduces highly granular model selection. Every individual AI unit—the smallest intelligence component within an Enterprise Workflow Intelligence application—can access a different LLM or AI service.

A business-critical workflow may operate entirely on Apertus and Swiss infrastructure. Another AI unit may use a specialized international model when a particular capability is required. Image generation, for example, could selectively access an external service while sensitive operational processes and enterprise data remain within the sovereign environment.

The architecture therefore allows organizations to decide where sovereignty is required and where access to specialized capabilities provides greater value. Until now, model selection in Enterprise AI has primarily been driven by two criteria: performance and cost. BlueCallom added a third criterion: strategic relevance.

An AI model can now be selected according to the purpose of an individual task, its data sensitivity, required capabilities, jurisdiction, cost, performance and sovereignty requirements. This changes the role of the LLM inside the enterprise.

A Sovereign Swiss Enterprise AI Stack

With Apertus 1.5, Swiss-hosted infrastructure and BlueCallom·AI, enterprises can establish an AI architecture in which the core technology layers can be operated within Switzerland:

Swiss Infrastructure → Swiss Foundation Model → Swiss Enterprise AI Platform → Enterprise Workflow Intelligence

The Apertus initiative itself describes sovereign AI infrastructure as a long-term objective and provides organizations with an open alternative to proprietary commercial models. The model can be inspected, adapted and commercially deployed.

For BlueCallom, this creates another important option for customers that consider technological sovereignty, data control and long-term independence strategic requirements.

Enterprise AI no longer needs one model strategy. It can have a model strategy for every AI task.
